We use the most advanced iCloud data management technique as opposed to the legacy iDisk style. The iDisk synchronisation method is slow and seeks to synchronise everything and just not what has been changed. Software that continues to use the iDisk method will not enable you to truly allocate 100% of your rooms and beds during winter and will cause you double bookings when it is too slow in summer.

We are a small hostel, only 100 beds, and for many years used only a paper record keeping and reservation system. 5 years ago I looked at the products on the market and tried a few system, such as Charts, Anand and HW ... Each of these systems caused me number of problems being organizationally difficult, not user friendly and very hard to explain to new staff, as it was very complicated. I put it in and they see it straight away.

The user-friendly design makes the program easy to use and teach to new staff. In a hostel like ours, its important to have the correct name and bed for each and every person, and the dormbook design allows for that beautifully.

The DormOnline system integrated easily with our website, as well as hostelbookers, hostelworld, hostelclub and booking.com, correctly updating prices and showing paid deposits whenever necessary. The fact that the system is updated on a server, makes me feel safe, that if for some reason my computer gets broken, or the internet connection is down, i can still work with the system perfectly, knowing that the reservations which are coming in every minute of the day will still come in and I get notified of every change, every res, every problem which might occurre with any res. It is sooo great!!!!

The ability to swiftly change the dates and rooms you want to see as well as the ease in moving people about and changing reservations has sped up our work process significantly and made us far more efficient.

Finally, I most appreciated the user defined programming style that allows us to create our own personal dormbook with room types and descriptions that we use already. The ability to design our own reservation forms and to add specific optional charges that are not commonly used is fantastic. I also like the fact that most if the changes I need to do regarding room types or rates, I can do them by myself in a matter of minutes. When I worked with Charts, I had to wait for them to wake up Australia time to be able to ask any change to be made, and I had to do everything in writing until it was done. With Dormbook, every change I needed, I made it by myself and if I was not sure how to do it, Dean was right there and solve my problem in a second. Really useful!!!

Another extra bonus to the system that it gives you a lot of options to get your revenue higher, in all kind of ways that no other system did. My revenue has definitely gone up since I started with Dormbook, my work is MUCH easier as far as reservations, check ins and general front desk operations and my staff are loving me for finding that system for them :)

Overall, DormBook online have met and exceeded my expectations, and whenever problems in understanding or knowledge arise, their customer support team is incredibly helpful both via skype and email. They worked with us throughout the entire transfer process, easing our move into the new system which can be incredibly arduous.
